A good work out

Moxi had an excellent find today it almost sounds like one of those tall tails.
While out for some brushing up before the next trial I noticed moxi caught wind of something, head up and a little zizg zag and she was off I thought she scented a deer I whistled her but she ignored me something she normally does not do and them she was out of sight. I waited a minute whistled her again she didn't show so I began walking the direction I last saw her after about a 300yd walk I saw her in a thicket on point, I walked in and about 20 feet in front of her I flushed a woodcock. It was an extremely windy day so the wind was to her advantage in this case I guess but it was so windy I didn't think the scent of a bird hunkered down in a thicket would travel a line like that. It was as if the dog was being pulled on a string right to the bird all that distance.

a bird dog yet

I keep telling myself I'll make a bird dog out of her yet. Kira is way behind schedule at age 4 she's at a derby level. It's taken me this long to figure her out. I had to leave her behind since I had Moxi that showed much more promise.

Kira has those days when she looks like she's got it all together and quite litterally the very next day be clueless. Kira needed maturity and recently begun to show she's ready. Kira is otherwise a smart gentle dog that is a pleasure to have around and will retieve all day.

Now that Moxi has a few wins to her name I thought I should now give Kira a shot at some more competition
