RUBY

Tom Hulshizer of Utica, Mn. updates me recently about Ruby's success in the field. Ruby daughter to Moxi is now about a year and half Tom writes me this:
Hey Anthony,Thought I would pass along these pics of us with Ruby and her firstpheasants. We actually got 3 roosters, but my other brother had left withone of the birds before we took the pics. That's me on the right. Ruby didgreat for her first time out. She pointed 2 out of the 3 birds we shot. Thelast bird was an absolutely beautiful point, she pinned him down in a grassywaterway and was locked up solid. I told her whoa and walked in on it, allthe while praying I wouldn't miss!!!Haha! Dropped it about 20 yards out infront of her, couldn't have been better!! Anyway, just wanted to share thesewith you. Take care!

Tom Hulshizer
I just knew she would do well for him!

Irish Setters earn their keep

November 29, 2008 Moxi
had the opportunity once again to hunt pheasants for a large group at Pheasant Ridge in Ogilvie Mn. The customers were very pleased with Moxi's performance earning her a tip that will keep her in feed for a couple of months.
The next day I brought Moxi out for a hunt on wild pheasants and in the first 10 minutes afield we had our first rooster. After that it took a while we did bag our second rooster but it was dark by the time we made it back to the car so we couldn't get a photo.

November Sunday Afternoon

Moxi, the red setter won a second place at the Northern Lights field trial club in Solon Springs, Wisconsin Oct. 26, 2008. Hard driving wind and rain was the weather for that event.
November 2, 2008 Moxi Pictured with two rooster pheasant on a beautiful 70 degree day. Though the weather was great Moxi had to do some hard work that a Lab would have admired. A 15 minute search in cold swamp water and thick marsh grass she produced the downed rooster. Cold and shivering she continued on and in approx. 10 minutes we had our second pheasant.

Lucky Dog

This Molly formerly known as Sammi. Molly is living the life with her new master Abby Konold of Eagan Mn.

Red Setters in the Northern Woods

Moxi the 3 yr old red setter has been holding her own in the woods of northern Minnesota this year. Her red orange coat is better camo in the fall foliage leaving it very difficult to find her on point, leading to many missed shots.

RUBY

This is Ruby owned by Tom Hulshizer of Utica, MN.

Ruby is daughter to Moxi so I expect she'll be a superior bird finding machine. I'm anxiously awaiting updates on her progress. Tom recently purchased Ruby from her original owner and is now working with her in hopes of being able to shoot birds over her this fall. She may not be perfect this fall but I'm positive he'll get to shoot birds over her.

Big win

April 13th 2008 Moxi wins her first ever Open shooting dog Stake. She was spectacular and even if she wouldn't have won I was very pleased with her performance. This was her first run at this level of competition.
On the 25th of April I gave it another shot and had Moxi run in the Izaak Holton Classic, another Open Shooting dog stake. Moxi didn't do so well getting disqualified 10 minutes into what was a 45minute stake. Unfortunately she saw the bird run and she made the attempt to catch it. Up until that point she was looking good.

4 month old pup

4 Month old pup staunch on point, yes she is scent pointing a live bird hidden in the grass about 15 feet in front of her. This pup had not been styled up prior to the photo this is just how she stopped she held the point long enough for me to take a few photos and flush the bird. This is typical red setter or what I've come to expect in young red setters.

Pretty

5 month old pup

getting the job done

Today's red setter is a class gun dog in the ranks with the English pointers, English setters. Indeed a force to be reckoned with. Whether hunting for large groups at a shooting preserve or wild birds with their master, red setters get the job done.

The Clan

The Clan

Xena, Kira, Kalie,Moxi

mother daughter

Xena and Moxi a mother daughter team. An hour in the field with these two and we had our limit of pheasant.

Kira

Kira, stylish and intense

This is Xena, mother to Moxi.

Xena was my first red setter and I wish I had known what I was doing when I first got her. I made every mistake possible with her, had I known then what I know now she would have been very formiddable in trials. 35 pounds of enegy and drive I considered her a chesapeake personality. Break ice, dive under water to make a retrieve, cross rivers, swim upstream, make 200 and 300 yd retrieves, point fur and feathers, no fear what so ever she got off the plane at 12 weeks and was ready for action. Play and play hard. Xena was an all out hunting dog by the time I got into trials and learned a thing or two, some of the bad habits had taken hold for good, though she did well in competition her lack of manners worked against her, rufusing to back and stealing points, things she didn't ever have to do hunting. Now Xena is 9 and though she can't go as long, she will still break ice and give you a hell of a days hunt.To this day I have never come home empty handed from a hunt with Xena or Moxi and to hunt with the both of them together just isn't fair to the wild life.

Moxi and me after a trial.

Moxi the Red Setter

Moxi is one of those dogs that is a joy to hunt with from age 4 months she exhibited a sharp mind and a willingness to handle unlike some of my previous experiences with pointing dogs. A high energy to hunt and calm around the house, perfectly happy to lay on a rug and chew a bone. Moxi has a good balance of a strong eager to please personality and a strong drive to find birds.
Moxi does have a couple of Derby wins to her name in filed trial events and now working on a walking shooting dog placement.
Moxi has now hunted for groups as large as 12 guns holding staunch while all guns a blazin.
She does not care to handle for any one other than myself, loyalty, another thing I wasn't accustom to in pointing dogs.

A Stellar Day Afield

These are happy customers of BlaisN Red Setters.
Red Setter Moxi hunted for five guns in the Fall of 2007 for a Mpls. Based Company: Stellar Technologies
Moxi's performance was nothing short of Stellar!
